The 2007 Kansas Book Festival invites students and teachers to join in the hands-on learning opportunities.

Please pre-register your class to reserve your teacher's packet.

The Book Land tent will focus on famous Kansans with large posters, free trading cards, and free bookmarks. Activities will based on age groups:

K - 3rd grades will create symbols books, play bingo games, make Oz puppets, decorate visors, and receive stickers.

4th - 5th grades will work with quills and pen and ink, play a symbols game based on the John Brown mural, and do mapping activities

6th - 8th grades will play a famous Kansans Jeopardy-type game, do journaling, and explore aviation history.

Outside activities include peach basket ball and a musical symbols walk.

The Kansas Arts Commission is sponsoring a mural activity based on Harlem Renaissance artist and Kansan, Aaron Douglas.
